A History of Youth Radio at KAAD

2017 – First Youth Radio education curriculum introduced at Dario Cassina High School

2019 and 2021– Dario Cassina High School students included in Columbia Street Musician documentary project: “The Diggins” (Check out our Archive to listen to the completed project!)

2022 and 2023 – Youth Radio curriculum expands to Sonora High School Flex Period program

Late 2023 – Youth Broadcast Club launches to offer high school age students across the county a place to gather to learn, develop and deliver radio and podcast content for broadcast on a variety of broadcast platforms

Spring 2024 –  KAAD begins partnership with Motherlode Juvenile Detention Center to teach broadcasting skills to incarcerated youth. Sonora High School Flex Period Program resumes with emphasis on Podcasting.
