The Sonora Dome is in trouble. The magnificent building on Barretta Street that once housed Sonora’s elementary school has a leaky roof. If this is not fixed, the building will decay and become impossible to use and too expensive to save.

Save The Dome Roof is a group of local citizens determined to raise the funds needed to fix this roof. The plan is to replace the old, worn out coating that seals the roof with more durable material. When this work is done, it will arrest the accelerating decay process and buy some time to fix other problems with the building, ultimately turning it into the valued community asset we would all like it to be.

KAAD is delighted by this renewed effort to preserve the Dome. It is, after all, the Dome-icile to our broadcast studios. Our volunteers have a unique opportunity to see the progressive deterioration of this fine structure. Fixing the Dome roof is vital for our little station’s survival, and we are asking our listeners and supporters to do what they can to help this group reach their goals. Saving the Dome also saves the home of KAAD.
